Uesugi Kenshin (1530-1578)
In 1548, Kenshin became the owner of the castle of Haruyama and was engaged in the five Battles of Kawanakajima with Takeda Shingen.
Around the time Kenshin had become the new lord of Echigo, Shingen Takeda had won victories in Shinano. The two provinces (Shinano and Echigo) share a border and are very close to one another.
